How big is a 15-yard dumpster?
Every rental is a 15-yard dumpster, so here's exactly what you get.
It holds 15 cubic yards, about 5 pickup-truck loads. Inside it's 14 ft long x 7 ft wide x 4 ft high. It's a dumpster on wheels, not a roll-off, so it's lighter on your driveway and fits tighter spots.
The numbers
| Capacity | 15 cubic yards |
| Inside dimensions | 14′ L × 7′ W × 4′ H |
| Included weight | 1 ton to 3 tons, by load type |
| Max gross weight | 5 tons |
| Sits on | concrete, asphalt, gravel or flat lawn |
Is 15 yards enough for my project?
It sits between the 10-yard and 20-yard roll-off containers most companies rent. Jobs it's good for:
- Apartment and tenant-turnover cleanouts
- Estate and garage cleanouts
- Drywall, flooring and room remodels
- Yard, brush and storm debris

Space vs. weight
With light material like furniture, boxes or brush, you'll run out of space before you hit the weight limit. With heavy material like concrete, shingles or dirt-heavy debris, it's the other way around: you'll reach the weight limit with the dumpster only partly full. That's why the price is set by load type:
- Light Cleanout includes 1 ton: furniture, boxes, household goods, soft goods
- Yard Debris includes 1.5 tons: branches, leaves, brush, mulch (no dirt)
- Renovation Mix includes 2 tons: drywall, flooring, trim, light demo
- Full Load includes 2.5 tons: heavy demo, dense mixed materials
- Heavy Material includes 3 tons: concrete, shingles, asphalt, masonry
Over the included weight is $80/ton. Never load past the 5-ton max gross weight. See how pricing works.
Will it fit in my driveway?
Usually, yes. It rolls in on its own wheels, so no roll-off truck is needed. It can sit on concrete, asphalt, gravel or flat lawn, and it fits in driveways, side yards and alleys that a roll-off truck can't get into. Wheel chocks and a tongue jack keep it in place.
